On 7 October 2016, the Alliance for Accelerating Excellence in Science in Africa (AESA) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation held a roundtable on Precision Public Health in Africa.
This session, held at the Sheraton Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, brought together African researchers policy makers and funders to explore challenges and opportunities for precision medicine for public health on the continent.
Delegates at the Precision Public Health for Africa Meeting
Discussions centred on topics that included applying emerging methods and technologies for measuring disease, pathogens, exposures, behaviors, and susceptibility in populations; and developing policies and targeted public health programmes to improve health on the continent.
